Recently, WhatsApp introduced a new Status feature using which users can add short videos, GIFs, and photos as their WhatsApp status. While this feature was welcomed by users, but at the same point, users were unhappy to see that new Status feature has replaced old text status feature. Lots of users (including me) were missing the old WhatsApp status feature badly. So once again, WhatsApp has taken care of its users, and it brings back old text status feature. This text status feature has made a comeback with “About” section under WhatsApp profile. I was quite sure that WhatsApp will have to add this feature again and here it is.
We all can once again use those old “At school”, “At Work”, Busy, or any other custom text statuses on WhatsApp. So, it’s the same old status feature. You can also set your text status privacy to make it visible for Everybody, My Contacts, or Nobody. You can use WhatsApp as usual. Also, text status feature won’t interfere with new Status feature and vice-versa. You can use both, new Status feature and Text Status, together.
Please note that this feature is currently available in the beta version of WhatsApp. If you’ve already joined the Beta program of WhatsApp, then you can update and use the text status. Otherwise, you should join the beta program or wait till the stable version receives an update to make this text status public.
Now let’s see how to set old text status in WhatsApp:
1). Tap on the three vertical dots menu button present at the top right end on WhatsApp and press Settings option.
2). Tap on your Profile picture. Now you will be able to see About and phone number section. Here you will see your active text status, but first you need to create one. So tap on this section.
3). There it is! You are under About section of WhatsApp. Here you will see all preset text statuses and an Edit icon. Use that icon to set your custom text status.
Your new WhatsApp text status will then be updated as it used to be earlier.
To change the privacy of your text status, you need to access Settings > Account > Privacy section. Under that section, you will see About menu. Use that menu and set text status privacy to My Contacts, Everyone, or Nobody.
With the entry of this old text status feature, WhatsApp will surely get a lot of appreciation. Now WhatsApp seems to be perfect, though we will get more interesting features time to time for sure. We have features to send GIPHY GIFs using WhatsApp, do video call, send videos as animated GIFs on WhatsApp, and lots more.
Personally, I am quite happy to see the old WhatsApp text status back in action. The non-beta WhatsApp users would have to wait for this feature to be launched in the stable version. If you just can’t wait anymore, then register for beta updates of WhatsApp and set text status on your WhatsApp account.
