Facebook has Introduced Messenger Lite, a slimmed down version of Official Messenger app. People with low or average data speed can now enjoy messaging without any trouble using this official app. The app size is under 10 MB, which is comparatively very low than Messenger app. However, this won’t stop you from enjoying the features that are available in Messenger app. Messenger Lite app presents all the core features of Messenger app. That means you can send messages, receive and send photos, links, and stickers. There is a change in the color of Messenger Lite logo (logo color is reversed), but core features are as it is in this lite version.
It’s been a year and a few months when Facebook Lite was released. People welcomed and showed a good response. Now it’s the time for Messenger Lite to begin the show. It would be interesting to see if it can attract millions of users or not.
Here is the introductory video of Messenger Lite (via Facebook Newsroom).
Before you rush to Play Store to download Messenger Lite, here is a small catch. It is not yet available on the Play Store worldwide (at least not until the time of writing this article). It is starting to roll out in Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Venezuela, and Tunisia. In the coming months, it will be available in other countries also.
You may try to find out if there is any apk available or not. Till then, you have to wait and keep an eye of Play Store.
It’s a good initiative and also beneficial for both users as well as Messenger team. With the introduction of Messenger Lite, more users will connect to Messenger and it will also help to compete well with Google Allo and other competitors. It can be a good option when you have slow data. Feel free to share what you think about Messenger Lite. Use the comments section.
