WhatsApp once again has come with a new feature i.e. ‘pin chats‘. After providing features to send multiple contacts at once, set text status, add video and GIF as status, etc., this latest ‘pin chat’ feature is gaining attention. When a WhatsApp chat is pinned, it will always remain on top of other chats. Normally, when we receive a new message on WhatsApp, that chat is automatically moved to the top. But with this pin feature, the pinned chat will remain on top always.
This chat pin feature is introduced in the beta version of WhatsApp, but we will soon get this feature in the stable version of WhatsApp. (Update, May 19, 2017): This feature is now available in the stable version of WhatsApp.
Currently, you can pin maximum 3 chats. This limit might extend in future or with its public release, but for now, only 3 chats can be pinned on WhatsApp.
Pin A WhatsApp Chat:
To pin a chat on WhatsApp, you need to select a chat (tap n hold) and then you will see a ‘pin‘ icon on the top, just before mute volume icon. Tap on that pin icon and this is it!
That particular chat is pinned to remain on top of other chats.
You can also select multiple chats and pin them in one go. The pin icon is visible even if you have selected more than 3 chats, but that icon won’t work in that case. You will receive a message that you can pin only 3 chats.
Unpin A WhatsApp Chat:
A pinned chat can also be unpinned anytime. For that, you have to select the pinned chat and this time you will see unpin icon. Select that icon and unpin the chat.
So this is all about this feature. If you can’t wait for the public release of this feature, then you can join the beta program of WhatsApp and pin chats. If you want to wait for its public release, then it’s well and good.
While testing this feature, I didn’t face any trouble and I was able to pin and unpin WhatsApp chats easily. So I believe this feature is now ready and we will see this feature soon in stable version of WhatsApp.
