Whether you are reading an article, news, or some other post, almost every webpage includes images, ads, and other content. It’s good till it is not annoying you from accessing the relevant information. But there are some webpages with so much distraction that we want to remove all the annoying content and keep the text content only. If you also feel the same, then I have something to share with you. It is a free Chrome extension that converts a webpage into text only mode.
“Text-Only Mode” is the name of this Chrome extension. Its name itself clears a lot about the purpose of this extension. Using this extension, you can turn or convert a webpage to text only mode in just one mouse click. You also don’t have to reload the tab to turn webpage to text mode. Just one click and you’re all set to read the text content of a webpage. When the text only mode is activated and you open some link within that tab, then that particular link also opens in text only mode automatically.
As visible in the screenshot added above, you will see the icon of this extension next to the omnibox (or address bar) of Chrome. Obviously you need to install this extension to view its icon. Clicking the extension icon or button will activate the text only mode.
Now whenever you will open some webpage in that tab, it will open with text mode.
You can also turn off text only mode by clicking the icon of this extension. Turning off this extension will automatically reload/refresh the tab and the webpage will visible in normal mode with all images and other content.
This extension also have one more feature. It comes with its right-click context menu option. It is used to open a link in new tab with text only mode. You can see its right click menu option visible in the screenshot below.
As you see, “Open in Text-Only Mode” option is visible in context menu. This option will visible only when you will right-click on a webpage link.
Click that option and the link will open in new tab with text mode activated.

So this is all that we get with this useful Text-Only Mode Chrome extension.
I personally like to view webpages with full content as long as it is not annoying to me and disturing from accessing the content that I want to see. Still, sometimes there are webpages with so much distraction. For such cases, I’m gonna use this Chrome extension.
I really like the simplicity of this extension. There are no settings or options. Just its extension icon and context menu option. Just one click activates this extension and converts webpage to text mode. Another click on its extension icon turns webpage to normal mode again. As simple as that. You should try this extension.
