Close All Tabs That Are Playing Audio, Muted, Currently Loading in Chrome

admin March 30, 2017

Closing a tab or multiple tabs in Chrome or some other browser is a basic and very easy task. We can click that close button available for every single tab to close it. But when we need to close multiple tabs based on some specific category, then there is no native setting supported by Chrome or other browsers. Let’s say you need to close all those tabs that are currently playing audio or some tabs are still loading and consuming memory a lot. So what can be done to close such tabs. For such cases, a powerful extension “Tab Ninja” can be used.

Tab Ninja extension is available for Chrome that provides a lot of options to close tabs. The options are based on the type of tabs. As an example, this extension can be very helpful when you want to close only all those tabs that are currently playing audio, muted, loading, pinned, etc. So you will have the choice what type of tabs you want to close.

To close multiple tabs which belong to a particular category, you need to use only two mouse clicks.

In the animated GIF above, I have tried to show you how this extension can be helpful. As you can see, there were 3 tabs playing audio. With the help of this extension, I was able to close all those audible tabs in just two clicks without leaving the current tab. So, this is just an example how this extension can help you and save time while closing the tabs.

Let’s see how you can use this extension to close multiple tabs together based on specific category.

Installation process is simple and as usual. Once the extension is installed, its icon can be seen on the top right side. That icon does nothing (except helping you remove this extension) so we don’t have to access that icon.

To close tabs using this extension, you have to right click on a webpage and use ‘Tab Ninja‘ option. This option contains all the categories based on which you can close multiple tabs in a click.

Tab Ninja context menu lets you close:

  • Pinned tabs.
  • Audio playing tabs.
  • Currently loading tabs.
  • Muted tabs.
  • Already loaded tabs.
  • Discarded and discardable tabs.
  • Highlighted tabs.
  • Tabs with same host.
  • Tabs with same domain.
  • Tabs to the left, etc.

These are the options that you can use and close the tabs.

You can’t reopen all the tabs together which are closed using this extension, but you can undo closed tabs one by one using the native option of Chrome. I guess if this option to open all those tabs again (that are closed using the extension) is possible to add, then it will make the extension too good.

So this is all about this Tab Ninja Chrome extension.

Chrome itself provides options to close tabs other than active and close tabs to right, but this Chrome extension is way beyond those built-in options for closing the tabs. You can decide whether you want to close only muted tabs, audio playing tabs, currently loading tabs, tabs with same domain, etc. Only two mouse clicks will close multiple tabs together in Chrome based on your choice.
